Calvo Vuelca Fácil® (Easy Flip) wins Innovation Prize at the National Marketing Awards

  • Calvo’s revolutionary packaging took first place in the innovation category of the 14th implementation of Spain’s National Marketing Awards.
  • This new award follows the prize recently received for being the most successful innovation of the year in the consumer goods sector.

Carballo, June 24, 2022.- Grupo Calvo has won the National Marketing Award in the innovation category for its new Vuelca Fácil® packaging. Introduced to the Spanish market in 2021, the Easy Flip can has revolutionized tuna production and consumption.

This is the 14th edition of these awards promoted by the National Marketing Association to recognize marketing strategies that stand out for their innovation, good practices and tangible results. The winners were announced at the awards ceremony held in the evening on Thursday, June 23 in Madrid. Calvo’s product launch prevailed over companies competing in the innovation category, including Samsung, Calidad Pascual, Burger King and Pescanova.

The judging panel for the awards thus recognizes the novelty represented by the creation of a new way to produce, package, serve and enjoy canned tuna which Calvo has introduced to the market with its Vuelca Fácil® can. Martín Barbaresi, Marketing Director of Grupo Calvo’s Europe Division, collected the award and emphasized that “there are many years of work, a great deal of effort and an ambitious investment behind this new way of packing and consuming tuna being acknowledged by the market. Consumers are responding, and anyone who has tried the system finds it hard to go back to the traditional can.”

Second recognition in a month

The National Marketing Award is the second recognition that Grupo Calvo has received for its commitment to innovation in less than a month. Vuelca Fácil® was named the winner of the award for the year’s most successful innovation according to the Innovation Radar 2021 report prepared by consulting firm Kantar. The two awards join the other prizes the new Calvo packaging has received since it was introduced to the market in 2021. Noteworthy among them are the Genio Award for the best innovation in product design and the Galicia Food Award from the Galician Food Cluster (Clusaga) in the innovative product category. The Easy Flip packaging was also among the top twenty innovations in the industry in 2021 according to the Institut Cerdà’s Innovation Observatory in the Consumer Goods Sector.
